PROJECT SUMMARY

Tension Structures worked closely with Carmel Partners to design, engineer and install Tensioned Shade Sails throughout the Waterfront Beach Park, and over the new Community Center Kiddie Pool in Ewa Beach, Hawaii.  Being in a “hurricane prone” region, the shade structures are engineered for 105 MPH Wind-Loads, Exposure “D”.  Concrete footings for the upright posts were poured throughout the sand areas of the property to meet the Hurricane Prone and Windborne Debris Region.

This project consists of twenty-five (25) triangular-shaped tensioned shade sails on the beach front property.  There are twenty-two (22) Ewa Beach canopies (14′ x 14′ x 14′), and three (3) Community Center Kiddie Pool shade sails (20′ x 20′ x 20′), with upright columns ranging from 8′ to 14′ high. Cream Monotec 370 FR fabric (by Value Vinyls) are attached to support columns engineered for 105 MPH Wind-Loads, Exposure “D”; and Seismic Design Category “D”.
