PROJECT SUMMARY
Eide Industries, in partnership with Sark Custom Awnings, assisted with the design, build and installation of the irregular shaped patio cover for the Saddle Ranch Chop House Restaurant at the Universal City Walk in Universal City, California. The project covers approximately 5,000 square feet, and is supported by one 30” diameter galvanized steel mast which extends 10 feet higher than the original canopy. To match the existing footprint of the restaurant, engineered designs called for thirteen tensioned cables attaching to surrounding structures at strategic points were needed to support the single-mast. Flame-retardant and waterproof Serge Ferrari Precontraint 1002 Formula S fabric was then fastened to the cables and around the perimeter with 1-5/8” lace bar. The structure was then lifted via a 250-ton crane over the restaurant and into place on their respective connecting points. The successful installation was completed within the 3.5-days, which minimized downtime, and kept the business operational.
